| FAQ's What Are Hair Extensions? TOP Hair extensions are 100% human hair pieces or synthetic hair pieces in bulk or pre tipped strands that are attached to your own hair to add volume or length. There are several ways of attaching the hair including weave, fusion or micro-link application. Hair Extension Applications & Maintenance TOP
There are so many different methods of application for human hair extensions on the market today that it really can be hard to determine which application will work best for you.
We offer tools and supplies to support only two applications that we have found over twenty years to be the best and most popular hair extension applications. Fusion and the Micro Link applications.
The Fusion and the Micro-Link applications can last up to 3-6 months with proper care and should only have to be taken out to be adjusted and moved closer to the scalp due to natural hair regrowth, at which time the extension hair can be used again for the next 3 to 6 months.
Proper care literally means you must maintain the hair by brushing more frequently, tying the hair back to avoid tangles while sleeping or participating in any activity that causes the hair to tangle such as swimming, running, cycling.
When shampooing the hair it is important to shampoo in a downward motion, never pile the hair on top of the head to shampoo, this will avoid excessive tangling. Always brush from the bottom of the hair upward. Deep conditioning the hair is a sure way to keep your extension hair looking it's best. One of the best products we have found for keeping the hair smooth and shiny is "Smoothing Super Skinny Serum by Paul Mitchell". A few drops goes a very long way and it will last forever!
Fusion Application: There are two types of fusion application on the market currently, Hot and Cold fusion. Cold fusion came along with the idea that the natural hair is better protected if the keratin glue was added with no heat. Our opinion only, but after using both methods we have found no significant difference between the two and currently use and offer pre tipped extension hair and tools for hot fusion.
To Apply Hair Using The Fusion Method the hair is applied in sections. Starting at the nape of the neck and working upward section the natural hair in a small section across the nape or neckline. The first section should be 1 - 2" wide. This will allow some natural hair to cover the extension hair should you decide to wear your hair up.

Lift a small strand of natural hair using the tail end of a rat tail comb, this should be a small section of hair approximently 1/4". You may decide to use a heat protector plastic template to protect the scalp. If so, place the natural hair strand through the slit opening of the template and attach to the head securing with a hair clip.
Place the keartin glued end of a pre tipped hair extension strand under the natural hair strand and use the heated fusion iron to clamp over the glue tip, this will allow the glue to melt into the natural hair strand.
After 4-5 seconds the glue tip should be melted in to the natural hair. Remove the fusion iron and gently roll the melted glue into the natural hair strand forming the bond. Rolling the glue is done by moving your index finger and your thumb back and forth with the melted glue between them.

Micro-Link Application: The micro-link application quickly has become the most popular application method of the past few years because they are easy to apply and easy to remove. There is no glue involved, application is quick and they are virtually undetectable.
To Apply Hair Using Micro-Links just like the fusion application above the hair is applied in sections starting at the nape of the neck and working upward. Section the natural hair in a small section across the nape or neckline. The section should be 1 - 2" wide. This will allow some natural hair to cover the extension hair should you decide to wear your hair up.
Place a micro-link ring or copper tube on to the needle pulling hook.

Lift a small strand of natural hair using the tail end of a rat tail comb, this should be a small section of hair approximently 1/4".
Pull the natural hair through the micro-link ring or copper tube.
The micro-link ring or copper tube on the natural hair strand should look like this.
Insert the i tipped hair extension strand into the opening of the micro link ring or copper tube so that the glue tip is laying against the natural hair.
Using the clamp tool, clamp two to three times to flatten the micro-link ring or copper tube securing the hair extension strand in place.

How Many Strands? You may need 180-200 strands for a full set of hair extensions. This depends on your hair type, texture, volume and the look you want to achieve. If you want added length to existing length you already have you would need less hair. If your hair is short, under 5" we recommend that you wait until your hair is at least 5" in length so that your own hair will cover the extension bonds and it may take a minimum of 200 strands. Very fine or thin hair may also require more strand placement.
Hair Coloring & Highlighting: Yes! Your hair extensions can be colored and/or lightened. We recommend that a professional does this for you.

What Are Micro-Links/Copper Tubes? TOP
Small beads used to attach hair extension strands to natural hair for hair extension placement.
Which Color, Style, Size? When micro-links came on to the market a few years ago hair extension artist everywhere were thrilled! Now they come in several colors and styles and it can be a bit tricky to find the right ones to suit your needs.
After years of offering every style, size and type available we now offer two styles. Silicone Lined Micro-Link Rings and Copper Tubes.
Silicone Lined Micro-Link Rings are made of aluminum alloy, strong enough to hold strands secure, and soft enough to be clamped. These rings are lined with a smaller silicone ring. The silicone lining protects the natural hair from being clamped against the metal ring, it allows a bit of a cushion. As well as protection for the natural hair it prevents the rings from slipping, which can happen if the micro-link ring is not clamped well.
Copper tubes are longer tube cylinders made from nickel alloy and copper. Because they are longer, they are clamped against the extension hair tip more along the full length of the tube, this creates more security as well for the hair extension strand.
Our silicone micro-link rings are offered in two sizes. 3.50mm and 4.00mm. If less natural hair is pulled through the micro-link ring and the hair extension strand tips are small, the 3.50mm size could be used. If more natural hair is pulled the the silicone micro-link ring and the hair extension strand keratin tip is larger the 4.00mm size could be used. The 4.00mm size is great for those with thin or fine hair. This size allows more natural hair to be pulled through and causes less stress on fine or thin hair. The 4.00mm size also seems to work best with curly hair which can often times be more dense or thick.
Our copper tubes are offered in three sizes. 2.70mm, 3.00mm and 3.50mm. Most hair extension keratin i tips fit very well in to the 3.00mm and 3.50mm size copper tubes. The hair extension strand keratin i tips can be trimmed to be inserted in to the smaller 2.70mm size copper tubes.
Obviously no matter which size is chosen they will be virtually undectable in the hair as long as proper placement is used. There are areas closer to the hairline, bang area or near the temples where you might consider using a smaller size making them much less noticeable.
Color is important. Many times over the years we have had customers order our hair and micro-links and copper tubes only to need an exchange later when they realize that because they ordered bleach blonde hair that they ordered blonde micro-links or copper tubes to match the extension hair. This would work fine if the natural hair is bleach blonde.
Regardless of your own hair color to make the copper tubes or silicone lined micro-links less noticeable the secret is to have them blend in with the hair.
Because they are placed near the scalp, you want them to match as closely as possible to the natural hair color near your scalp. If your own hair color near your scalp is medium or light brown, but you are adding light blonde extension strands in your hair for highlights, you would want to use medium or light brown silicone micro-links or copper tubes.
